We're Building Safer Communities
Across Miami-Dade
Founded by Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek, The Carrie Meek Foundation is an organization that advances the safety, dignity, and economic power of families across Miami-Dade County.
We invest in the conditions that make resilient communities possible: quality education, health and wellness, housing, and economic mobility. We measure our success not by programs launched, but by lives stabilized, opportunities expanded, and communities made whole.
Our Four Pillars
Economic Development
Expanding access to income, capital, and opportunity so families can build financial security and participate fully in civic life.
Education
Expanding access to quality education, youth development, and lifelong learning opportunities that empower residents to achieve their full potential and contribute to stronger communities.
Housing
Connecting residents to stable, affordable housing — because physical safety and community resilience begin with a secure home.
Health
Advancing community well-being by addressing health disparities, expanding access to quality care, and supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of individuals and families across Miami-Dade.
Our approach to change
01
Investing
in people
We support programs that meet residents where they are, building individual capacity and leadership within communities across Miami-Dade.
02
Strengthening
local organizations
We partner with and support in community-based organizations that deliver sustained, place-based change — not one-time interventions.
03
Building through
strategic investment
We direct resources toward the programs, partnerships, and initiatives that move the needle on safety, stability, and opportunity for the communities we serve.
Safety is not only the absence of violence. It is the presence of opportunity, stability, and dignity. Every pillar we invest in builds a safer Miami-Dade.
Guided by a legacy
Throughout her educational career and distinguished tenure in state and federal office, Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek faithfully advocated for equity and opportunity for people in marginalized and underserved communities. Committed to taking bold, transformative steps, she worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life and create opportunities for all — especially the young, minorities, and the disadvantaged across South Florida.
This Foundation carries that work forward.
