We support organizations working to create stronger, more equitable, and more opportunity-filled communities across Miami-Dade County.
Grantmaking has been at the heart of the Carrie Meek Foundation’s work since its founding in 2001.
It is the most direct expression of Congresswoman Carrie Meek’s conviction that resources must flow to the communities that need them most, not sit in boardrooms far removed from the realities of everyday life.
We believe that the organizations doing the most vital work in Miami-Dade’s neighborhoods are often the ones with the least access to traditional funding. Our grantmaking is designed to change that. We prioritize community-based organizations with deep local ties and lived experience, lower barriers for first-time applicants, and pair every grant with technical assistance and capacity-building support so that funded organizations emerge stronger, not just funded.
We do not simply write checks. We invest in people, build lasting organizational capacity, and hold ourselves accountable to the communities we serve.
Funding youth programs, after-school enrichment, scholarships, and leadership development for students in Miami-Dade's most underserved communities.
Supporting trauma-informed care, mental health services, and violence prevention programs that reach residents who lack access to traditional healthcare.
Investing in organizations providing housing assistance, reentry support, and wraparound services that keep families stable and connected to their communities.
Backing workforce development, small business support, and financial literacy initiatives that build lasting independence for minority and low-income families.
